Achim, I am so thrilled for you! The place looks fabulous and you bet your bottom dollar, should we be in the area, we will be dropping in for some bratwurst and kraut.

    Wishing you every continued success!

Being German, I have visited many a “German” restaurant in the US.
Ilsa’s Kitchen by far outdoes anything I’ve tried so far.
It beats all the places I’ve tried in Fredericksburg.

I shall be back, again and again!!!
Thank you, Achim, for an absolutely breathtaking experience.
    Servus!

We at for the first time on April 17..schnitzel…fabulous. Came back on 4/25….schnitzel again….was overcooked….someone took the eye off the ball…both my husband’s and my schnitzel was overcooked…still had good taste but a shame….need to keep your eye on the food..whoever was cooking at 12 noon..next time we will send it back…
we live in spicewood, and we are so happy for a good german restaurant….no need to go to Fredericksburg any longer….

We made reservations for Mother’s Day and had high hopes for some great German food. We’ve lived in Germany and haven’t found anything in the area that measures up to what we’ve enjoyed in other areas. Sadly, service was slow and the food did not measure up. I had the stuffed cabbage, sauerkraut and goulash soup. The stuffed cabbage was fairly tasteless although the sauce was good. The sauerkraut did not taste like sauerkraut and the goulash soup was vegetable beef. It had nice flavor, but it was NOT goulash soup like I’ve had in Germany. My husband had the schnitzel and he said it was ok, but not great. I see that you’re not there any longer, but hopefully you can pass this along.

Chef, can you update us on the status of the Bavarian Bistro? I’m sure many Austin gourmets can’t wait for their schnitzel fix…
